Respite for families of children with multiple disabilities
The Foundation finances different types of specialized respite services for families of children with severe disabilities. These moments of respite help reduce exhaustion in parents who care for their children around the clock.
Respite for families of children with multiple disabilities
The Martin-Matte Foundation finances organizations that help families with children with multiple disabilities by offering specialized respite services. This gives parents the chance to breathe a little while their child has fun and thrives. This break gives them the opportunity to rest, take care of day-to-day tasks or work.
The specialized respite services can take different forms. Some are in the continuum of services and are complementary to school to facilitate work/life balance and the personal lives of family members who are caregivers. A variety of activities are offered, such as physical, artistic and sensory activities, to maximize their potential and foster their development.
Some respite services are meant for families who are exhausted and need a break for a few days. The children are cared for by a team of professionals who offer them the care they need and a range of activities suited to their development.
